This is the website for Vis-a-thon, a special program offered by RISD. Vis-a-thon is an intensive hackathon program led by faculty from RISD’s Nature Lab and Digital Media departments. It pairs Rhode Island-based scientists with RISD artists to collaboratively explore artistic interpretations of scientific projects. The program focuses on topics such as oceanography, geology, and other areas connected to the ocean, Earth, and space.
The identity design and main concept for the Vis-a-thon website center on the idea of navigating toward broader horizons. The desktop website’s main navigation reflects the collaborative movement between scientists and artists as they learn each other's languages of science, art, and design, creating new paths and directions together.
